> Am left with the oldest rocker / hippy /prog-rocker in town

Do you mean the bloke who used to run the Virgin record store, when
it was a tiny shop up Queens Road (if anyone else here is old enough
to remember that!) Thin, tall, wild curly hair? Never seems to age?
I think he must have a special painting in his attic...

The other bloke I always spot is "Walking along reading a paperback"
man. He seems to walk between Brighton and Hove, often around the
BHASVIC / old shoreham road area. He always has his face buried
in a book, but never seems to walk into lamp-posts. I often sit at
traffic lights willing him to walk into something, but he must have some
special radar 6th sense.

And the one I really miss is Brighton's original bag lady. Shopping
trolley, loads of carriers, and the foulest mouth ever!

Oh, and is anyone else old enough to remember this guy:

He used to cycle between Brighton and Shoreham, waving to
people. I think Chris Eubank based his 'character' on him. In
Shoreham he was known as Horace, whereas in Brighton we used
to call him Burlington Bertie. But I haven't seen him for about
20 years now.
