[BNM] set path on a mac

Hello,

How do I get/set a path in osx?

I want to ensure that if I run PHP from the command line that its using the 
MAMP version of PHP I've installed. I think I've got myself into a muddle 
as I've got php under /usr/local and last night installed MAMP to see  what 
it was like; ideally to mess with symfony. Managed to get symfony going OK.

All seems to be working OK but not sure which installation of php I'm using 
at the command line.
