[BNM] Email discussion list scripts

This has been mentioned before, but has anyone come across some more 
modern alternatives to Mailman? Or perhaps a bulletin board that can 
simultaneously act as an email discussion list, so you get the best 
of both worlds?

I'm after something we can run on our server, rather than a hosted service.
