Although fairtrade is ok for the growers, I recommend looking at  
places like

http://hasbean.co.uk where they source beans direct from the growers  
and usually visit the farms beforehand, they also roast to order and  
the stuff is f**king excellent. This is a great model for getting the  
best coffee to punters by taking as many traders out of the process  
the grower and roaster both get a fair deal.
