[BNM] new BBC website design

I am in two minds about it. A nice looking page.
I like the modernity of being able to customise the page but it gets me
thinking that when customising pages one wants more choice of content, as
you get from the new breed of news/feed/widget aggregating pages like
Netvibes, newsvine et al. Can't see the beeb's page competing with that at
all - so what's the point?
Also a bit gutting to be flicked back to the old 'barley' layout whenever an
item is clicked...hold on I see the new wider, centre aligned table(!)
layout for news has just replaced this - still a bit of a disjointed feel
about the transition between the homepage and news pages with no immediate
route back to your carefully customised homepage (bar the old click the logo
trick) - netvibes do a cool including the target content in the shell of
your homepage thing that the beeb might do well to give more than a nod
to....
