[BNM] CMS and web services

I'm googling about but is there such a thing as a content management system 
(wcm) that allows you to mix text i.e. stuff you right about stuff with web 
services? So for example could I write information about a project

"This is a project about updating the system and is _50%_ ($value drawn 
from elsewhere using web service/sql/something$) done"

I guess a lot of content could be drawn from other places other than the 
database?? which looks after the web content.

I'm not sure if I'm asking a really obvious question here. I think of a 
content management system as holding typed text. I can see how to write 
something but would prefer to add to something that already exists. This 
sounds like it??

Many web services currently exist that provide information sources and 
functions for Content Management Systems. Such services include search 
engines, address validation, and bibliographic lookup. The major problem is 
integrating these web services into existing CMS tools and environments. 
AXIS, a toolkit for deploying and using web services, allows developers and 
CMS users to integrate web services into their CMS applications without the 
need to learn SOAP or other low-level Internet protocols.

Is anyone using a CMS that does this; any preferences. We got data all over 
the place and this might help!
