[BNM] Can anyone tell me why a web app would be better

The traditional Advantages of terminal services were in the speed of
deployment to users and the fact that thin client devices were
considered to be cheaper to buy and deploy.

These days the differences are less evident as PC equipment is cheaper
in relative cost and and many more apps are deployed via web so you only
have to worry about the browser. Thin Client environments were also
deemed better for use over WAN links as they had relatively low
bandwidth requirements (right up until anyone wanted to print, usually),
Certain environments like Citrix also had / have SSL type login features
which meant remote working was easier and more secure across the
internet.

As links are getting better, the market is focussing on the SSL
appliance arena, although neither solution solve every problem, whereas
thin client will always be useful for anyone that might want to sub-out
an app to a third party, or just deploy terminals with apparent ease.
Large environments generally can do this with deployment tools (Altris?
name escapes me).

What would be the reasons why a business would go for thin client stuff.
Whats the advantages and disadvantages?

Cheers
