[BNM] Help!! really strange FTP failure!!

So this happens no matter where you are trying to upload to?
And sorry if you already answered this, but which FTP client are you using?
Filezilla? ftp from the terminal?
Also, how are you connecting? When you say you use SSH for the transfers, do
you mean you select SFTP via SSH-2 in filezilla, or you use sftp from the
terminal, or what?
