[BNM] Vista woes

What Rob said... and also, perhaps:
1. right click Computer and go to Properties, Advanced system settings,
Advanced, and Performance. On these settings, choose Adjust for best
performance and watch as all the ridiculous crap is turned off. I flicked a
couple back on cos it¹s not all the devil, but use your judgement. By this
point you¹re running just as fast as XP, but with a few extra features.
2. find your way to Services wherever they may be, and decide which ones you
want. Use a Vista Services wiki if you need explanations of each (although
some are bleedin¹ obvious) and try and knock at least a third off. By now
you¹re probably running significantly quicker than you were under XP, you¹ve
got layer upon layer of extra security and updates.
Of course, I still use my Macs primarily, but I have to keep a PC in the
house for various work things (and secret gaming when I¹m too skint for the
pub). Anyone that moans about Vista being a graphics heavy, sluggish OS when
they¹re using OS X, though, deserves to be kicked hard and fast in the
bollocks for being a pseudo-cool hypocrite! People who suggest Ubuntu are
probably right... heh. But hey, they¹re all just tools. Dual boot, baby.
Chris I still like to own a machine I can play Oblivion on too¹ Billett
