http://www.moonet.co.uk/dnsdia.png. I want to set a DNS system like
this. All the master zone files are on the blue dots whilst the
servers that actually answer requests(red dots) are slaves. the red
slaves are updated from the blue dots via axfr(Asynchronous Full
Transfer Zone).
The master zones on the blue dots are non critical. They could be
hosted anywhere as long as there is a static hostname(so you could use
dyndns)
The system will pretty bomb proof. Your master servers will be 3
geographically independent servers.
To add a new zone to the system all I would have to do would be to add
the domain and location of the master.
I'm not interested in charging for this. I have been successfully
hosting my own DNS for around a year and have got it pretty damn good.
I'm more looking to expand my skills and of course provide he best
service :)
Take a look at these.
