[BNM] [OT] Brighton's nuclear power station?

By definition the councilors represent the people. If they are worried about
winning votes then that means they are worried about the needs of their
ward....ergo if they satisfy their constituents then they keep their seat.
Just because you vote green it doesn’t mean you don't want you children
educated as well.
The policy works very well for all those that live in the centre of town.
All (other than Cardinal Newman and Dorothy Stringer) the secondary schools
are on the periphery of the city....we all have to travel to get our kids to
school.
What this policy actually does is improve the standard of all the schools as
it breaks up the clusters of the middle class children who all attend the
same school by dint of their living in the "right area".
It's a pretty reasonable policy**...suffice to say, what the council should
really be doing is actually building another school (to replace the one the
government shutdown) and to also match all this development of property in
the city (but that is another debate altogether).
** yes, I do appreciate that it means not all children go their local
school...but there is only one central school without religious leaning in
the city.

Either way - the councellor voted that way to keep the seat - so althought
the voters appeared green enough to vote green, they aparantly weren't green
enough to actually be inconvenienced by any green principals.
I don''t think nuclear is really a green issue - most of the anti-nuclear
mob are the same underclass that jump on any band waggon that allows them to
complain about everyone else. So they have jumped on both the green and
anti-nuck bandwaggons and got the issues a bit confused.
I think nuclear power is fine in principal, I just don't trust anyone to run
it.
