I've got something called Fruity loops (possibly the same as above) which
is also available as a demo; I think. It's great for rave stuff and the
like but not so sure it's so good for actually learning the piano. But
definitely fun. Managed to write a few of my phone ring tones on that using
special effects rather than music. Sibelius will do things like transcribe
music but again may not be too kiddy friendly/ There's something called
Noteworthy (I think) but again possibly not kiddy friendly but will write
the music as you play.
Get them a guitar and teach them to rock!
