* Summary
In this position you will be working within the Product Development
team responsible for the design and development of Galapagos products.
This is an important hands-on role in a small, dynamic, creative and
technically excellent team, with the potential to make a valuable
contribution to the successful growth of a rapidly expanding company.
The role will be mainly Brighton based with occasional travel to
Codefarm’s London office and client sites.

Key Responsibilities:
User interface design/development, including design for testability.
Requirements gathering from clients and the Client Services team.
Reports To: Program Manager.
Key Relationships:
Q/A team.
Technical Author.
Remuneration:

Location: Brighton, UK with occasional travel to London.

of a focussed development team.
Skills:
Essential skills include,
* Good computer science (or maths/sciences/analytical) degree,
postgraduate desirable, or demonstrable equivalent experience.
* Human factors/interaction design experience.
* Knowledge of online help systems.
* Excellent Java (1.5 including generics) in a Windows/Linux
environment.
* Financial or Sci/Eng UI design experience, esp. data
visualization/manipulation.
* Software version control using CVS.
Other highly desirable skills include,
* Software development using Eclipse, JUnit and Ant.
* Exposure to Eclipse RCP/SWT development, including familiarity
with OSGi.
* Design patterns.
* XML, W3C XML Schema, XPath, XSLT.
* Use of bugtracking software (esp. JIRA, Confluence).
* Excel COM automation, including integration with Java.
* Strong mathematical background, possibly in a financial sector
context.
Experience:
You will have worked as a Java UI developer/designer for innovative
technical or scientific software product companies over a period of
3+ years.
Track record in a Financial environment would be highly desirable.
