I've tried going cold turkey before, and the first few days were a bit of a nightmare but it got easier after that. The hardest bit I found was not succumbing to the false sense of security after a couple of months - you know the scenario - in the pub, had a couple of pints...

I'm on the patches this time, and so far it's been fine. Not the strongest patches either (I was never a heavy smoker), but they've made yesterday and today pretty easy (so far).

I've had the Allen Carr book kicking about for about a year now - never read it. In denial, that sort of thing. Maybe now is the time to pick it up...
