It's funny, in my original email I actually typed (but deleted)
something along the lines of "and before anyone suggests it, I don't
think she'll be too happy if I replace Windows with Ubuntu". :)

Interestingly, the original Product Key that it quoted (presumably the
one it had been factory-activated with by HP) was completely different
to the one on the side of the case, both of which it said were
invalid. Wonder if that has something to do with being specific to the
manufacturer.
