That's a nice analogy, actually. But how about Sim City? You start  
out your city really nice and clean. It grows and grows, becoming a  
real beauty. Then suddenly an ugly spot appears, which you remove by  
simply bulldozing the area. And another one. And another one. You  
start accepting them, and eventually end up with one ugly mess of a  
metropolis.

Then a giant lizard attacks and destroys everything in its path.
