I think you can only do that with the more recent Hi-MD recorders,
with a Hi-MD recording.

What's worse, line outs seemed to disappear from portable MD recorders
several years ago, which is not good for the 'pro-sumer' audio market.
I'm sure I'm not the only person who used one as a mastering device in
the days when portastudios still ruled the earth.

No doubt yet another victim of the Sony vs. 'Piracy' campaign. :(
