Maybe the clock on Jane's PC wasn't set right?
Time sent in an email is set by the sending device.
Have a quick look at your headers:
Received: by 10.35.22.19 with HTTP; Wed, 17 May 2006 04:52:40 -0700 (PDT)

Unfortunately, we can't tell from the pipermail archieve exactly how
Jane sent the email, not the address she sent it from. But from the
autosig, it looks like she was using yahoo, maybe webmail.
Tue, 11 Sep 2001 06:26:16 -0700 (PDT) equates to 09:26:16 in EDT
(-0400 from UTC). That's 23 minutes after United Airlines Flight 175
crashed into the south tower, and 41 minutes after American Airlines
Flight 11 hit the north tower.
