I nearly had a Uni project ruined by that sort of thing. I'd encoded a
video in WMA for a CD-ROM, and assumed that since it played no probs
on my PC, all was well. Unfortunately, it wasn't until I tried it on
my parents' computer a while later that I found out that a computer
had to be 'licensed' to play the file. I emailed my lecturer, who
thankfully hadn't marked the coursework yet, and let him know that he
needed a license and how he could acquire one, because it wasn't
blindingly obvious at the time (I think WMP asks you now).

It was the first time I'd encountered something like that, and it was
lucky I found out about it before it went for marking. Cheers, MS.
