[BNM] mac addresses and stuff

Hello,
Just involved with a bit of hardware inventory at work. Does PHP have the 
ability to get information about a computer e.g. mac address. I know there 
are variables that can pick up the IP address of someone looking at a web 
page (or the proxy of the person). Assuming that this is all internal stuff 
(not via proxies or anything) what information is php able to get? Has 
anyone done anything like this? Anyone seen anything like this.

I don't really see how PHP could do this without running some external code?

It would be useful now to get people to look at a web-page and enter some 
basic information (name) and for the rest to be picked up auto-like.
