>From Seb -

The next meeting! After 6 weeks of waiting, I'm finally doing the particle
thing! Here's the official blurb from the FlashCoders site:

Quite an intriguing combination this meeting; you can't say we're not
eclectic in our range of subject matter! First up, Seb will be offering a
sneak preview of his forthcoming
FlashForward<http://www.flashforwardconference.com/>session, for those
who can't afford the flights to Texas :

*Particles for the Non-Physicist*

*Creating a particle system to make cool Flash(r) visuals may sound scary, but
it's not rocket science. With some very simple programming, you can create a
variety of different effects such as smoke, explosions, bubbles, and even
fire. The basics of physics are covered in a very clear and
easy-to-understand way. Utilising Actionscript 2 class-based code and new
Flash 8 features (filters and the BitmapData object), particles can provide
the ultimate cross-over between the visual and the technical.*

And finally, we'll be talking through the drum machine code that we've been
developing for our challenge with FCNY <http://www.flashcodersny.org/>, and
discussing how we can all contribute to taking it further. You can check
Tom's awesome start
here<http://www.thepixelplant.net/pixelfonts/pixelfontsplay.asp>.
This is a great opportunity to learn about design patterns and collaborative
programming techniques.
