For me the whole point of spending money on a proper server is for hardware
raid and built in monitoring- you have this with a poweredge.

You need to get/download/install from the cd, the openmanage client- once
done this will give you full info from the hardware.

Subject: [BNM] Server making 'chirruping' noise...?

Hey list,

This is odd. Got a new dev box - a dell poweredge sc 430, running
Windows Server 2003.
It's not really doing anything exciting - in fact, it's just sitting
there - powered up - doing nothing.
Occasionally it'll start making 'chirruping' noises from the speaker.
It's like a lot of normal 'beeps' but in very quick succession.
sometimes it will only be a couple of beeps, sometimes a load of them.
It'll then stop. and start again a few seconds, or minutes later.

There's nothing in the event logs that tie in with the times of this
sound.. tis very random indeed.. anyone got any ideas what this might
be? My first thought was CPU temperature, the environment isnt hot,
but i guess the heatsink might not have been fitted correctly... i'll
poke around in the BIOS and see if there's anything there...

cheers

iestyn
